Why Awareness Isn't Enough: Why Real Wellness Tools Matter Now More Than Ever

The rise in mental health awareness hasn't translated into better outcomes. Here's why—and what needs to change.

Mental Health Awareness Is Everywhere, But the Crisis Is Growing

Over the past decade, we've witnessed a massive shift in how the world talks about wellness and mental health. What was once taboo is now trending. Corporate wellness programs have exploded, global awareness campaigns dominate social feeds, and hundreds of apps and digital tools flood the market daily.

And yet, the numbers tell a very different story. Despite all this awareness, we're seeing a 13% increase in global mental health conditions over the last 10 years (WHO, 2022). Today, 548 million people worldwide live with anxiety or depression (Our World in Data, 2024), while 75% of people report daily stress that takes a toll on both mind and body (APA, 2023).

Awareness is growing. But outcomes aren't improving.

The Real Problem: Systemic Gaps in Support and AccessPhoto of the global mental health crisis

Most current wellbeing solutions fall into one of two limiting categories: content-based approaches (think education, eBooks, webinars, coaching calls) or one-size-fits-all programs with minimal adaptation.

What's missing is real-time, embodied, practical application. When people are overwhelmed, stressed, or in crisis, they don't need more information. They need tools that help them regulate, reflect, and rebuild—right then and there.

We're still trying to solve internal dysregulation with external education. And it’s not working.

What Actually Works: Practitioner-Led, Evidence-Informed, Digital-First Tools

To bridge the gap between awareness and transformation, wellness solutions must be grounded in evidence (somatics, breathwork, trauma-informed care), accessible both in person and through mobile platforms for daily use, led by practitioners rather than content creators, and personalised with community support rather than mass production.

That's what actually supports nervous system healing, behaviour change, and long-term mental wellbeing.

What We're Building at Plaece

At Plaece, we've experienced this problem from both sides—as individuals on our own healing journeys and as coaches and facilitators who know how hard it is to deliver meaningful wellbeing support in a crowded, chaotic digital landscape. HubSpot Blog Square

So we're doing something different.

We help wellness practitioners, coaches, and organisations launch their own custom-branded mobile apps—fully tailored, entirely theirs.

Not another generic app.
Not another surface-level solution.

A practitioner-led, community-powered, mobile-first platform designed to deliver real wellbeing experiences that stick.

Let's Build a Better Wellness Economy, Together

  • If you're a practitioner who's ready to grow your business in a way that's aligned with your values.
  • If you're a business leader tired of check-the-box wellbeing solutions that don’t actually work.
  • If you believe wellbeing should be lived, not just learned.

We'd love to talk.
